The extremely popular Honda ASIMO robot is just about to end up in service.
Honda started working on ASIMO (Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility) in 1986. The first publicly presented prototype was shown in 2000 and was the world’s first standing and two leg machine.
The technology developed during the development of the robot will not be forgotten. It will be used in Honda’s future products. A few years ago we had the opportunity to see the world’s first motorcycle that maintains its own balance and is capable to move on its own up to 5km/h.
However, this is not the end of Honda’s development of robots. The Japanese giant is working hard on machines that you will one day be able to own at home. This year at CES we had the opportunity to see 4 new robots – a quad, an intelligent wheelchair and two sweet machines able to show emotions using AI.
The Honda ASIMO humanoid robot was never in sale.
