This classic will soon return to the road with the electric motor under the hood.
Jaguar Classic will bring back a unique model to the market – the E-Type. The iconic car will return as an electric model based on the concept of the E-Type Zero.
In terms of look, the car is no different from the original. The only real change is the addition of LED daylights. Inside, instead of the clocks, there is a display, and optionally, a large screen can be installed in the centre console. The car does not have a gear knob and instead has a button to select the direction of travel.
If the components remain unchanged from the concept model, the electric E-Type will have a 40 kWh battery that allows it to travel 170 miles (274 kilometers) per charge and a sprint from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) will only take 5.5 seconds, which is better than the original V12 model (by 0.9 s).
Interestingly, the installation of the electric drive unit and battery pack does not in any way interfere with the original body. This means that in theory it will be possible for the owner to install a petrol engine.
The production of electric Jaguar E-Type is expected to start in the summer of 2020.
