After a few months from the release of a completely new A-Class, the first variety signed with the AMG logo has just joined the range.
The all-new AMG in the A-Class is the start of a fight in the hot-hatch segment. Until now, the sporty A-Class, the A45, has been far from the rest of the competition in terms of engine power, and it has been difficult to compare it with competitors like Audi or BMW. This is due to change with the debut of the slightly weaker, but still hellishly fast variety of the A35.
The basic model of the AMG family features a redesigned body. At the front you will find, among other things, a completely new bumper, the characteristic AMG radiator grille, black side mirror housings, as well as a large diffuser and double exhaust system.
Presented in Paris, this version is equipped with an optional aerodynamic package. It consists of additional air ailerons in the bumper and a massive rear spoiler.
The heart of the smallest AMG is the 2-litre R4 turbocharged unit. It generates 306 hp (225 kW) and 400 Nm of maximum torque. The drive is transmitted to all wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
In terms of performance, Mercedes announced that the AMG A35 will take 4.7 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h. The maximum speed is electronically limited and is 250 km/h. These values are identical to those of the competitor Audi S3.
To make it all work together, the car is hardened and has a much more efficient braking system with 350 mm discs at the front and 330 mm at the rear.
The price list of the new model has not yet been revealed. It is known that the car will enter production at the beginning of 2019, and the first models should be delivered to customers in February.
