Tesla Model Y officially joins the portfolio

The new SUV will certainly be a new hit of the American manufacturer.

Tesla starts the expansion of new models. After the success of Model 3, the time has come for a new SUV. The Tesla Model Y is a medium-size SUV that looks very close to the “number three”. Unlike the Model X, it has a more classic design and traditional (but frameless) doors.

The interior is almost identical to that in Model 3. Its design is completely simplified and inside you will find almost only a huge 15″ touchscreen display. This is where you will find all the data, including the current speed and range.

What distinguishes the Model Y is the amount of space. Inside you will find 7 places adapted for adults, and above you can optionally have a huge, panoramic roof. The capacity of the trunk has not been revealed. During the presentation, only the maximum capacity after folding the backrests of the third and second row of seats was announced which is 66 cubic feet (1900 litres).

There are also variants with a two-axle drive. The Performance version is distinguished by its high efficiency and here we can accelerate to a maximum of 150 mph, and the sprint from 0 to 60 mph is only 3.5 seconds.

The first deliveries to customers in the United States are planned for fall of 2020. The car will probably not arrive in Europe until 2021.
