The third SUV from Skoda arrives. Despite a lot of speculation, the new crossover will get the same name as the model from the Chinese market.
Skoda now officially announced the name of their new SUV. The third of the range of trained models will receive the name Kamiq and will continue the nomenclature in which the names start with K and end with Q.
If you think that the Czech manufacturer already offers such a car, you are right. Skoda Kamiq is a slightly larger SUV than Skoda Karoq, but it is sold exclusively on the Chinese market. The new model on the European market will be the smallest crossover. It will be created on the MQB A0 platform and it will be a slightly raised Skoda Scala, and at the same time a twin of Seat Aron and Volkswagen T-Cross.
The appearance of the new model was announced with the conceptual model Vision X last year. The production form will change relatively slightly. Skoda presented a short announcement some time ago and we can see on it the front belt, which almost 1:1 reflects the concept. Additionally, it resembles Citroen models to a large extent.
Skoda Kamiq will only be offered with front wheel drive. The range of units will probably be the same as in the Seat Arona. At the beginning it is expected that only units 1.0 EcoTSI will be available in two power variants – 95 ps and 115 ps.
The car will be officially presented in March 2019 at the Geneva Motor Show. This was announced by Alain Favey, Head of Skoda Sales and Marketing at a recent press conference.
