BMW X1 doesn’t like pedestrians

During the automatic emergency braking tests, the BMW X1 wasted all puppets to death.

BMW drivers are not the best known on the roads. In particular, they are accused of driving fast, making dangerous situations both for other cars and pedestrians, and not signalling their direction of travel. It is said that the car reflects its owner, and this has recently been confirmed by BMW in tests carried out by the IIHS – Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

The test was attended by 11 SUVs from different manufacturers. In the test, the system of automatic braking in case of entering the pedestrian carriageway was checked. The test simulated three different situations:

  • entrance of a pedestrian on the road just in front of a rushing car
  • a child running on the road from among the cars standing by the roadway
  • pedestrian walking along the road in the same direction

The first test was conducted at 19 km/h (12 mph), the second at 40 km/h (25 mph) and the third at 59 km/h (37 mph).

Honda CR-V, Subaru Forester, Toyota RAV4 and Volvo XC40 received the highest marks in the test. Five other cars received a good grade and one received an average grade.

The BMW X1 was not even rated, as it seriously knocked down the puppets in each of the three simulations. During the test at the highest speed, the sensors of the car did not even detect a pedestrian.
